For yet another year, Maximus O Meeting has been recognised as one of the best orienteering events in the world by the prestigious portal World of O. In its annual ranking of the most valued races worldwide, Maximus O Meeting has achieved an outstanding 5th place overall.
This result has a very special meaning for us. Last year, the Middle Distance at Dehesa de Navaluenga was voted Race of the Year, reaching the very top of the international ranking. This year, we have once again managed to place ourselves among the elite, with the Long Distance at Cerro de las Ánimas entering the global Top 5.
What makes this achievement even more remarkable is the context. Our Long Distance course ranked ahead of major global events such as WOC and JWOC, and Maximus O Meeting is the only organisation to have repeated within the top positions for two consecutive years. This confirms that what we are building is not the result of a single successful edition, but of a clear philosophy and a consistent long-term vision.
From the bottom of our hearts, we want to thank everyone who voted for us. Your support helps us grow year after year, pushes us to improve, and motivates us to keep raising the bar. Knowing that so many orienteers value our work is the greatest reward and the strongest driving force to continue delivering what Maximus stands for: maximum quality, every winter.
The Maximus project was born over a decade ago with a simple but ambitious idea. To create an independent event, focused on excellence, where terrain, maps and courses would always come first. Now, as we approach the 7th edition of Maximus O Meeting, we can say with pride that Maximus is a consolidated event, with a strong identity and a clear roadmap for the years ahead.
Quality terrains, high-level mapping, and carefully designed courses will remain the core of this project. This is our commitment to the international orienteering community, and the foundation on which Maximus continues to grow.
